18 Active COVID-19 Cases In Dawes Co; All Chadron School Cases Recovered

Panhandle Unified Command recorded 8 new COVID-19 cases in Dawes County and just 2 more recoveries on Tuesday, leaving 18 active cases. There have been 90 cases and 72 recoveries in the county, all but 10 in the past 3 weeks.

      Chadron State College, as of Wednesday morning, had 31 cases – 26 students and 5 employees – with 21 recoveries. The 10 active cases include 9 students and 1 employee. Four students tested positive on Tuesday.

      All 12 coronavirus cases in the Chadron Public Schools have recovered – 9 at the high school, 2 at the primary school, and 1 at the middle school. There are still 12 students and employees quarantined after possible exposure.

      Panhandle-wide, there were 24 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday with 8 recoveries and no new deaths, resulting in 16 more active cases. The numbers are 658 cases, 560 recoveries, 6 deaths and 92 active cases, including 7 hospitalizations.

      Statewide, there were 287 new cases, 186 recoveries, and 2 deaths reported Tuesday. There have now been  34,574 cases of COVID-19 with 26,363 recoveries, and 399 deaths.

       There are currently 7,812 active cases in the state, including 162 who are hospitalized, but 35% of all hospital beds, 34% of ICU beds, and 85% of respirators remain available.
