The Chadron State volleyball team dropped its sixth straight match on Sunday to #16 Regis in three sets, (18-25, 19-25, 18-25), at the Chicoine Center. The Eagles record drops to 8-13 overall, and 5-7 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

The Eagles jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first set, but the Rangers strung together four straight points to take the lead. CSC was able to fight back and keep it close, drawing within one point at 6-7. The Rangers were able to go on a 10- 2 run to separate themselves from the Eagles. CSC did not go down without a fight as it clawed its way back into the game to cut the lead down to six at one point. Down 18-24 a service error gave the Rangers the 25th point to win the set.

The Eagles started off cold in the second set, falling behind 7-3 early. CSC put together a small run to cut the lead to five off a Mayson Fago kill. Regis then went on a 6-0 run to go up by 11 (18-7). The Eagles were able to cut the lead down to six from another Fago kill, but the Rangers were able to catch enough momentum and a kill from Hannah Kepler to win the set 25-19.

The third set started off with Regis jumping out to a 7-4 lead, but the Eagles were able to go on a run to cut the lead to 9-7 sparked by a kill from Fago, and Allie Ferguson. An Amber Harvey kill cut the lead to two before Regis extended the lead 7-3 run sparked by an Amelia Davis kill. Then CSC fought back into the game to cut the lead to 18-14, but that wasn’t enough for the Eagles, as the Rangers were able to steal the momentum and finish off the set going on a 7-4 run. Regis took the set off a Nadine Burbrink kill.

The Eagles had a bounce back game in terms of their offense with a hitting percentage of .156. Allie Ferguson led the team with a .429 hitting percentage and Mayson Fago hit a .375. Fago also led the team in kills with nine on the afternoon. Ferguson followed Fago with 6, while Lexi Hurtado, Harvey, and Aiyana Fujiyama each had four.

The team totaled 30 kills.

Defensively the Eagles had 9 blocks at the net led by Bella Adams with three, while Harvey and Fujiyama both had two.
