The University of Wyoming campus in Laramie remains in mourning today over the deaths of 3 students in a 2-vehicle accident Saturday on Hwy 287 several miles south of the Colorado state line.
Killed were 18-year old Sienna Potter, a freshman early childhood education major, 19-year old Rebecca Marley, a first-year marketing student, and 21-year old William Malone, a senior majoring in computer science.
Two other students were injured in the crash, but their names have not been released. One is in critical condition at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colo, while the other is hospitalized in Fort Collins, Colo.
Three UW students traveling in a third vehicle witnessed the accident and gave statements to police.
University of Wyoming President Ed Seidel issued a statement of condolence Sunday that said “Words fail us, as they simply can’t express our sadness. Our hearts are broken for the families, their friends, and our entire community.
The stretch of Hwy 287 between Laramie and Fort Collins, home of Colorado State University, is considered one of the deadliest in both Wyoming and Colorado.
