21 COVID-19 Cases In Dawes Co In A Week, 5 At CSC

There were another 13 cases of COVID-19 confirmed in the Panhandle yesterday and 7 of them were from Dawes County.

That makes the number of new cases in the county 21 in the past week, a total that includes 5 from Chadron State College, 3 staff members and 2 students.

CSC spokesman Tena Cook says all 5 are self-isolating in accordance with CDC and Panhandle Public Health Department guidelines,” but Cook also says the number of individuals who are in quarantine is not being shared at this time.

Chadron State is requiring masks at nearly all times on campus while testing for students is available locally through Test Nebraska sites. Classroom seating has been arranged to allow for more distance between students.

Panhandle Unified Command reported 517 positive cases in the region with 439 recoveries, 6 deaths, and 72 active cases with 4 currently hospitalized.

Statewide, Nebraska Health and Human Services last evening reported 30,825 cases with 22,798 recoveries, 368 deaths, and 7,659 active cases including 160 hospitalizations. 36% of all hospital beds and 33% of ICU beds in the state remain available along with 82% of respirators.
