Shortly after 2pm Friday, Chadron State College announced on their social media page that tickets to the Larry the Cable Guy stand up comedy show in March are now sold out. However, members of the public are urged to beware of scammers offering cheaper than face value tickets online.
A common practice among scammers is to sell the story that they had a “change of plans,” or “both spouses bought extra tickets, so we have extra.” and are therefore looking to sell their tickets at less than face value. The potential scammer will then have the victim pay the money upfront via money transfer apps and then fail to deliver the promised tickets.
The best way to stay safe from scams like this is to never send money wirelessly to somebody you don’t know personally. Always have a physical in person exchange of cash and tickets during legitimate transactions. Never sharing your personal information or credit card number is another must to keep yourself protected.
