The Spring Semester at Chadron State College brought a reorganization of the school’s administrative structure, primarily in the area of enrollment and retention of students.
President Dr Randy Rhine says he took several factors into account in the reorganization including recommendations from the school’s re-accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission.
He also considered CSC’s work with higher education consultants, feedback from his own Cabinet, and demographic data from the U-S Census and the Nebraska Post-Secondary Education Coordinating Commission.
Under the plan, the position of Vice President of Enrollment Management, Marketing, and Student Services is being eliminated and replaced by 2 new positions and the renaming of 2 others.
Jon Hansen, who holds the old post, will become Dean of Student Affairs while Associate Vice President of Student Services Sherry Douglas will have the title of Financial Aid Director.
Newly created and scheduled to be filled using existing FTE employees are 2 positions in enrollment management – Vice President and Associate Vice President. The VP will supervise admissions, financial aid, and START.
The college will soon begin national searches for 2 other new or redefined positions dealing with online courses and learning – Associate Vice President for Teaching and Learning and Instructional Technology and Design Specialist.
The reorganization also shifts the reporting structure for several offices. Records, Institutional Research and Transitional Studies now report to Vice President for Academic Affairs Jim Powell while College Relations reports directly to President Rhine.
The reporting changes took effect with the start of the Spring Semester on Monday with most of the others effective July 1st.
