Air Force Two Visits Scottsbluff

SCOTTSBLUFF – Air Force Two, the modified 737 used by the Vice President and other top federal officials, has been at the Western Nebraska Regional Airport in Scottsbluff the past two days, but not because any of those officials were visiting.

Airport Director Raul Aguallo told Rural Radio News that Air Force Two, which has the same blue-and-white color scheme and “United States of America” on the side as the president’s Air Force One, came simply for its crew to get some training.

Aguallo said the request by federal officials to use the field came out of the blue and he has no idea why the Scottsbluff airport was selected for such training maneuvers as touch-and-go landings, although he’s pleased it was – calling it “really exciting.”

Air Force Two arrived yesterday and left this morning.
