Alliance Wins “Best Of The West Business Invitational” Ahead Of FBLA Week Posted by John Axtell Date: February 06, 2020 5 Views CHADRON – Alliance took 1st with Chadron 2nd and Hemingford 3rd at the recent 3rd Annual Best of the West Business Invitational, co-hosted by Chadron State College and the Chadron State Center on Economic Education. Some 100 students from 7 Western Nebraska high schools took part in the competition, which included written tests on 8 subjects as well as a job interview contest for seniors. Best of the West was created to help prepare students in the region for the FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America – state competition and follows the FBLA competition guidelines. CSC Interim Dean Dr Wendy Waugh says the energy and professionalism the students brought to the college campus was “unmistakable,” making it very apparent the group includes some strong future business leaders. Waugh also says the college was honored to host them. In a related item, this is FBLA Week and the city of Chadron officially issued a resolution proclaiming the week at Monday’s city council meeting. Chadron High FBLA chapter President Lauren Collins told the council that in addition to honing their business skills and acumen, FBLA members also engage in community service such as helping out at the local lunch program for those in need.
