Alliance Woman Claims $262,000 Nebraska Lottery Nebraska Pick 5 Game

An Alliance woman has won $262,000 playing Nebraska Pick 5 from the Nebraska Lottery. Stephanie Schwaderer says she didn’t believe it when she saw her winning numbers drawn on March 4.

Schwaderer says she “initially thought it was some sick cosmic joke,” but after scanning her ticket with an app on her phone and confirming it she started yelling, ‘We just won the lottery.’”

Schwaderer and her husband John drove back into town from their farm to scan the ticket at a convenience store to make sure they were seeing it right.

They got confirmation and she signed her ticket, wrapped it in a $2 bill, and tucked the ticket into her wallet.

She says when it was an amazing feeling when it finally set in that she’d won, explaining that she “kind of freaked out, then just vibrated for like 36 hours.”

Schwaderer said they’ll use their winnings to pay off their farm and to build a bakery where she’ll make breads, cinnamon rolls, muffins and more.

Nebraska Pick 5 is unique to Nebraska, sold only in the state with a drawing every night. The jackpot starts at $50,000 and grows $4,000 each time nobody wins. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 501,942 and 1 in 8 of winning any prize.

Schwaderer purchased her ticket at J & J’s Pit Stop on 3rd Street/Hwy 2 on the west side of Alliance.
