Arrest Made In Rapid City Shooting

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) – A Rapid City man is in custody for allegedly shooting 2 people at an east Rapid City mobile home park a little before 7:00 Monday morning. 29-year old Arlen Hatten faces 2 counts of attempted murder

Rapid City police say officers responding to a report of a shooting at the mobile home park and a description of a vehicle that had left the scene saw and stopped the vehicle at an intersection.

They found the driver and one of 3 passengers had been shot and were en route to the hospital. Emergency first aid was performed until medical units arrived and took both of them the rest of the way. The driver had serious injuries and the wounded passenger life-threatening injuries.

Interviews with witnesses identified Hatten as the shooter and said he and the 2 victims knew each other. Hatten was located later at a business near Interstate 90 and arrested.
