Author Jeff Barnes To Bring Stories Behind Nebraska Historical Markers To CSC

    The man who literally wrote the book on Nebraska’s historical markers and monuments will talk about them tonight at 6:30 at the Mari Sandoz Center on the Chadron State College campus. 

      Author, historian, and photographer Jeff Barnes will speak on the rich and diverse history of the state as told through its markers and monuments.

      Barnes will share drawings and photographs from some of more interesting, colorful, and even controversial ways Nebraskans told their stories through boulders, tablets, plaques, and statues.

      His presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session and a chance for autographs of “Cut in Stone, Cast in Bronze: Nebraska’s Historical Markers and Monuments, a recent winner of the Nebraska Book Award for nonfiction.

     His lecture is made possible by Humanities Nebraska, the Nebraska Cultural Endowment, and Chadron State College as a part of the Humanities Nebraska Speakers Bureau.It’s free and open to the public.
