Bail Denied In Res Murder

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) – A federal magistrate judge in Rapid City has denied bail for the suspect in a fatal shooting on the Pine Ridge Reservation earlier this month. Judge Daneta Wollman’s order says 26-year old Colton Bagola is both a flight risk and a danger to the community.

Bagola has pleaded Not Guilty to 2nd-degree murder in the death a week before Christmas of 30-year old Sloane Bull Bear. He was arrested on the 20th following a short standoff with Rapid City police after fleeing Pine Ridge.

Investigators say Bagola shot Bull Bear in the back of the head at a Pine Ridge apartment after having told people he wanted or needed to kill some. A tip from family members led police to Rapid City home where he was arrested.

Bagola is scheduled for a preliminary hearing next Monday in Rapid City federal court, but could be indicted by a federal grand jury before then.
