Benjamen Lee “Ben” Robbins

A celebration of life for Benjamen Lee “Ben” Robbins will be Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Torrington, Wyo. The church is located at 1101 East 22nd Street.

Benjamen Lee Robbins was born February 1, 1980 in Chadron, NE, and died March 6, 2020, in a nursing home after a two-decade battle with Huntington’s Disease.

Ben was the third child born to David Wayne Robbins and Karen Kay (Schommer) Robbins. He lived in Chadron until the age of five, when the family moved to Torrington, Wyo, but he loved returning to Chadron and working with his grandpa, Rich Robbins, at his Conoco and U-haul station, and especially enjoyed getting root beer floats with grandpa at the A&W.

Ben graduated from Torrington High School in 1998 and was involved in cross country, basketball, and track. His favorite classes were the ones where he could get his hands dirty, particularly auto mechanics, and he kept the love of cars and engines from that time forward.

Ben married Eve Dennis not long after high school. Shortly after they wed, Ben was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease, which would go on to slowly rob him of the enjoyment and potential of life.

Ben would later live with his brother, Rocky, and his family in Colorado until his needs exceeded that level of care. He was moved into a nursing home where he continued to battle Huntington’s Disease until it eventually took his life on March 6, 2020.

Despite the battle, Ben could always be described as pleasant and happy. He appreciated good humor, sipping on a soda, and watching a program on television. He was a collector of Coca-cola nostalgia, John Wayne memorabilia, and model trains.

Ben is fondly remembered by his sister Donna Robbins of Casper, Wyo, and her family; his brother, Rocky Robbins and his family of Gering, NE; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
