Funeral services for 72-year old Betty DeCory are Saturday, September 19, 2020 at noon at the Yellow Hawk homestead in the Badlands near Kadoka, SD, with all prayer leaders welcome for traditional Lakota services.
Burial services will be at Gethsemane Episcopal Cemetery in Wanblee, SD
Visitation precedes the funeral from 9:00 – noon, also at the Yellow Hawk homestead. A light lunch will be provided for friends and relatives during visitation.
Betty’s family asks that everyone follow the guidelines of precautions against the spread of COVID 19 with masks and social distancing required. And please bring your own chair.
Betty C. DeCory was born on February 6, 1948 in Alliance, NE to Jacob Yellow Hawk and Emma (Broken Leg) Yellow Hawk. Betty made her journey to the Other Side on September 13, 2020 at the Hospice of the Hills in Rapid City, SD.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Emma Yellow Hawk Felix; siblings, Thelma Mesteth, Geri Wilson, Duane Yellow Hawk, Clifford Yellow Elk and Henry Yellow Elk; and grandson, Jerome Felix.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Emma Yellow Hawk; husband, Willard DeCory, Sr.; siblings, Lavern, Orville, William, Tommy and Collins Yellow Hawk and Myrtle Yellow Hawk Flute; and great grandson, Javon Blacksmith.
Pallbearers will be Eric Mesteth, Robert Two Two, Charles Peaneaux, Beau Two Two, John C. Yellow Hawk, Kevin Ford, Corey Peaneaux and Joe Mesteth, Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be All of her Nieces, Grandchildren, St. Francis Mission Class of 1965 and All Friends & Relatives.
