Brian Lee Roberts was born August 12, 1958 to Theodore ‘Pete’ and Rosalie ‘Rose’ Roberts in Chadron. God called him home on October 16, 2021, also in Chadron.

Brian was the baby of 9 children for Theodore “Pete” and Rosalie “Rose” Roberts. As he grew, he would run around with his group of friends, ride motorcycles, and try to stay out of trouble.

Brian started working at an early age, first at Byerly’s Bakery and then for the City of Chadron as an animal control officer from April 1976 to July of 1977, then in Health and Sanitation for nearly 17 years from September 1977 to March 1994.

When SWANN was formed and took over sanitation from the city, Brian made the move as well and kept working another 27 years until his death.

Brian wed Shirley Reed on July 2, 1977. Those two young kids continued on many more adventures riding motorcycles and going on car rides for 37 years before their split. They had two children, daughter Nicole and son Wesley.

Brian took those two kids all over the panhandle of Nebraska and up into South Dakota. He instilled in them a love of nature and adventure.

Brian was always up for a Sunday Model-T ride. He would load up his mom, Rose, and his two kids, one on each of grandma’s knees and head out.

He loved to teach his children about the land and take his nephews and kids on camping trips and family camping trips to the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Family was a big part of his life and he looked forward to the Roberts Family Reunion to take them on an old fashioned hayride.

He may be best known for driving around in the 1923 Model-T Ford that his dad and uncle restored. He could be seen in the Crawford 4th of July Parade and the Chadron Fur Trade Parade in the old Ford.

In 2015, he met and fell in love with Mishelle Murer and they continued on with motorcycle and car rides. In his free time, Brian would be out mowing or doing snow removal jobs, or driving semi for Littrel Construction.

He loved to drive, listen to music and work on his beloved cars. His granddaughters were the light of his life and he had many more Model-T rides planned out for when they were big enough.

Brian is survived by fiance Mishelle Murer, daughter Nicole (Erik) Olsby, son Wesley (Aly Crow) Roberts, sisters Mary (Loice) Bartlett and Deloris Millar, and brother Chuck (Kay) Roberts, granddaughters Olivia Olsby and Marzia Roberts, ex-wife Shirley Roberts, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Brian was preceded in death by grandparents Richard and Una (Thorton) Roberts, and John and Hattie (Schultz) Skoglund, his father and mother Theodore ‘Pete” and Rosalie ‘Rose’ Roberts, Brothers Douglas Roberts, Chester Roberts, Stephen Roberts, Curtis and Sister-in-Law Virginia Roberts, sister Patrica Bruce, Brother-in-Law Ward Millar, Father-in law and mother-in-Law William and Lois Reed, and nephew Ryan Reed.
