Car-Motorcycle Crash Fri Near Hot Springs Claims 1 Life

HOT SPRINGS, S.D. – The South Dakota Highway Patrol says one man was killed and another hospitalized Friday night when a motorcycle collided with a car near Hot Springs. The name of the 37-year old man, the motorcycle rider, is being withheld pending notification of family.

The Patrol says the motorcycle was traveling south in the northbound lane of Hwy 385 about 1.6-miles north of Hot Springs when it hit the northbound car around 10:40 pm The motorcycle rider, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his bike and died at the scene.

The 29-year old car driver suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to a Rapid City hospital while his 3 juvenile passengers, a 15-year old boy and two 13-year old girls,
each suffered minor injuries. All 4 occupants of the car were wearing seat belts.
