Funeral services for 35-year old Carlin “Sonny” James Red Blanket Jr are Monday, April 19, 2021 at 10:00 at the Little Wound House of Prayer in Little Wound, SD, with Pastor Stanley Hollow Horn officiating and traditional Lakota services by Mr Richard Moves Camp
Burial for the veteran of the U-S Army will follow at noon at the Lakota Freedom Veteran’s Cemetery, Little Wound, SD
A two-night wake service starts Sat, April 17, at 11:00 AM, at the TNT Center in Wanblee, SD. The second night starts Sunday at noon at the Little Wound House of Prayer in Little Wound
Carlin “Sonny” James Red Blanket, Jr. was born on March 16, 1986 in Pine Ridge, SD to Carlin Red Blanket, Sr. and Shirley Ghost Dog. Carlin made his journey to the Spirit World on April 11, 2021 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Sonny is survived by his father, Carlin Red Blanket, Sr.; mother, Shirley Ghost Dog; hunka mother, Juanita Scherich; children, TyAnna, Taiyen and Tatelyn Red Blanket; siblings, Tyrone, Travis and Carleen Red Blanket; godmother, Inez Little Whiteman; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Sonny was preceded in death by his godfather, Stanley Little Whiteman, Sr.; aunt, Marilyn Ghost Dog; uncle, Milton Red Blanket; cousins, Paulette Pourier, Virgil Grass and Donnie Ghost Dog; nephew, Jacob Pourier; and stepfather, Victor Two Crow.
Pallbearers will be Louie McBride, Adam Gay, Channing Little Whiteman, Chance Milk, Joshua LaMont and Andrew Iron Horse.Honorary pallbearers will be All Friends & Relatives.
