Funeral Services for 58-year old Carmelita Richards are Monday, July 26, 2021 at 10:00 at the Leo Richards residence in Slim Buttes, SD.

Burial Will Be Held at a Later Date.

A one-night wake service starts Sunday, July 25, at 12:30 PM, also at the Leo Richards residence 

Carmelita Margaret Richards was born on August 22, 1952 in Greely, CO to Lucky Ybarra and Bernice M. Frogg-Alcon and was raised by her grandparents, Phillip “Felix” Frogg and Hattie (Martin) Frogg. Carmelita made her journey to the Spirit World on July 19, 2021 in Rapid City, SD, peacefully, surrounded by her family.

Carmelita graduated Valedictorian from Holy Rosary Mission and went on to attend the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO. She also attended the University of North Dakota (InMed Program). 

After 22 years of working for the OST Housing, Carmelita retired and later worked for Prairie Winds Casino in the Human Resources Department for numerous years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Carmelita is survived by her husband of 49 years, Leo Richards; mother, Bernice M. Frogg; siblings, Gloria Toothman, and Juanita Wood; cousins, Deloris Segura, Lester “Bo” Davis, Linfred “Len” Davis, Teresa (Troy) Bettelyoun, Phillip Davis, Hattie Willow, and Marcus Willow; Hunka son, Manuel (Nicolette Weston) Garcia; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. 

Carmelita was preceded in death by her beloved son, Dana Justin Richards; brother, Paul Alcon; cousin, Calvina Alvarez; maternal grandparents, Phillip “Felix” Frogg and Hattie (Martin) Frogg; maternal great-grandmother, Mary (Woman Dress) Martin and Luis Martin; and paternal great-grandparents, Julie (White Rabbit) Frogg and Alfred Frogg.

Pallbearers will be Lester “Bo” Davis, Phillip Davis, Linford “Len” Davis, Ross Segura, Raymond Garcia, Tusweca Mendoza, and Manuel Larry Garcia.

Honorary pallbearers will be All Friends, Relatives & Co-workers.
