Chadron Aquatics Center Closed For Open Swim Till Tues By Covid-19 Case

CHADRON – The Chadron Area Aquatics and Wellness Center is suspending its open swim hours for the next week because one employee has tested positive for COVID-19 and others are in self-quarantine until it can be determined if they’re positive, too.

City Manager Greg Yanker says beginning today, the pool will open for lap swimming and water aerobics from 6-9:00 AM with physical therapy offered as normal tomorrow and next Tuesday, Aug 11, with open swimming resuming at noon that day.

Yanker says the decision was made in consultation with Panhandle Public Health District, which says there are no concerns for community exposure for anyone recently at the Aquatics Center because all close contacts of the infected person have been identified and contacted.

Yanker emphasizes that Chadron is working closely with health officials to follow their important protocols and is committed to mitigating any risk and keeping everyone safe and healthy.

Anyone experiencing typical COVID-19 symptoms is urged to immediately call their doctor or clinic or the PPHD’s 24/7 line at 308-262-5764.

Free coronavirus testing through Test Nebraska is available Friday morning from 7-9 at the old Chadron hospital ER Entrance across the parking lot from Wilson Park at 821 Morehead Street. Preregistration is required through Testnebraska or by calling 402-207-9377.
