Loading

The Chadron boys and girls basketball teams had very different results against Bridgeport on Tuesday night.

After a solid first three quarters that saw the Chadron girls hold a 35-34 lead with just under two minutes left in the 3rd quarter, Bridgeport finished the period on an 8-2 run that carried into a 38-4 run to end the game for a 72-39 win.

The ending overshadowed a hot start from the Cards that saw them knock down 5 first half threes and take a 27-25 lead into the break.

Laney Klemke carried Chadron with 9 points as they dropped to 8-9 on the season.

The Chadron boys overcame a lousy start that saw them score just three first quarter points as they outscored Bridgeport 13-5 in the 4th quarter to snap a 4-game losing streak with a 40-30 win.

Falling behind 8-3, Chadron held the Bulldogs to one 2nd quarter field goal and held a 14-10 halftime lead.

Bridgeport came back to briefly take a lead in the 3rd quarter, but Chadron closed out a much needed win behind 14 game high points from Xander Provance.

The win improves Chadron to 7-9.

The Cardinals start a three game homestand with Sidney in town on Friday.
