Chadron Girls & Boys XC Runners Grab State Berths

The Chadron High girls cross country team along with three Cardinal boys runners are headed to next week’s state meet in Kearney.

The Lady Cardinals finished behind Ogallala 39-30 to earn district runner-up and clinch one of three automatic qualifying team spots.

Grace Pyle led the Chadron girls with a 6th place finish in a time of 20:40. Makinley Fuller was 8th and Mackenzie Anderson was 10th. Micaiah Fuller crossed the line in 15th place to round out the point scoring runners.

The Charon boys narrowly missed sending the entire team by a score of 48-55 to Gothenburg. It’s the second year in a row that the Cards have been the first ones out.

Carter Ryan was the top Cardinal boy taking 7th in a time of 17:16. Gavin Sloan will make his first trip to state after finishing 13th and Nathan Burch is a repeat qualifier, crossing in 15th.

State will be next Friday at the Kearney Country Club.
