Chadron Legion Teams Have Successful Week

The Chadron American Legion team all had another successful week going a combined 7-3. The Seniors led the way picking up wins against Bridgeport, Gering, and Valentine. The Juniors went 1-1 with a loss to Alliance and a win against Bridgeport. Lastly, the Prep Nats split a doubleheader against Alliance

In Seniors action, the Nats dropped their first game of the week to Alliance 8-0. Cody Hall started the game on the mound going two innings and giving up six runs. Caden Buskirk came on in relief finishing the game. The Nats struggled at the plate only getting on base twice via a walk and hit batter each once.

The Seniors bounced back against Bridgeport taking the game 10-2. Jordan Bissonette was the winning pitcher throwing two innings of shutout baseball. Caden Buskirk and Seth Gasswich teamed up to finish the game on the mound. Cody Hall and Quinn Bailey each had two hits in the contest.

Over the weekend, the Seniors hosted their annual Wood Bat Tournament. The Nats went three and one, with victories over Gering (12-7) and Valentine twice (6-5 and 6-2). Their only loss was to Sheridan County in a hard-fought game that was closer than the 10-5 score indicates. Seth Gaswick took the win over Gering on the mound going four innings. Kobe Bissonette finished things off going three innings and striking out 5. Jordan Bissonette took the loss for the Nats against Sheridan County going three and a third innings. Cody Hall came on out of the bullpen to finish the time limited game. Noah Brown started the first game against Valentine going three and two thirds innings. Brown was relieved by Buskirk who finished the game for the Nats giving up just one earned run. Dawson Dunbar then started the second game on Sunday and went the full five innings of the shortened game. Dunbar struck out eight and gave up just two unearned runs. Buskirk and Gaswick led the Nats at the plate over the weekend with six hits each over the four games.

The Juniors also played well. Against Alliance, Trey Hendrickson took the loss, but pitched well going the full seven innings giving up just five hits. The Nats only managed two hits. Derrick Bissonette and Quinn Bailey each had one. The Juniors bounced back against Bridgeport with a dominating 19-1 victory. Kobe Bissonette, Trey Williamson and Quinn Bailey all saw time on the mound where they combined to strike out nine Bombers. Brady Daniels led the way the the plate going 4-5 with 4 RBIs.

The Prep team split a doubleheader with Alliance, dropping the first game 10-9 and bouncing back to win the second game 6-4.

This week is another busy one for the Nationals. The Preps start things off on Monday with a doubleheader in Scottsbluff and a match up with Sheridan County on Thursday. The Juniors and Seniors will take on Gering here in Chadron Thursday evening. The Juniors will finish up the week at a tournament in Gering with matchups against Bridgeport, Gering and Buckley.
