Chadron Public Library Reopens And Begins Summer Reading Program

CHADRON – Today is a big day for the Chadron Public Library as it reopens, admittedly with strong limits on the number of patrons allowed in, and begins the 2020 Summer Reading Program, which runs through July 18.

“Imagine Your Story” will explore fairy tales, fantasy, sci-fi, and mythology.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, summer reading program will be fully online at chadronpl.com – which is accessible by computer, tablet, and either Android or iPhone. Since the program is online, the library will keep track of the kids’ reading logs but there will still incentives for participants.

The public can access the online reading log by going registering. Go to chadronpl.com and click to Reader Zone tab to get a code to input at readerzone.com to sign up.

Schools and libraries encourage students to read during the summer to reinforce the reading skills acquired during the school year. Multiple studies have show the mind is like a muscle and needs to be exercised with reading one of the best ways to do it.

The library will be open 10-4 M-F but with visits limited to half-hour segments followed by 15 minutes of cleaning and disinfecting. Only 10 people will be allowed in at a time – 5 for the adult section upstairs and 5 for the youth section downstairs.
