The Chadron School Board has approved a $15.2-million dollar budget for the coming school year with a property tax levy a fraction of a cent under $1.05 per hundred dollars of assessed value.

The $14.7-million dollar general fund is about $500,000 more than this year while the special building fund, which includes reserves, is up roughly $1.25 million.

The general fund property tax request of nearly $5.8-million is a $110,000 increase with the special building fund is unchanged at $282,000.

President Tom Menke says the board is very pleased with the spending package put together by new Superintendent Ginger Meyer and her administrative team after Dr Caroline Winchester had started the process before her retirement at the end of June..

Menke says the board is also pleased with the transparency of the budget and the budget process.
