Chadron School Board Ratifies 2-Year Teachers Contract, Rolls Over Supt’s Contract

The Chadron School Board has approved a new 2-year contract with the Chadron Teachers Association. The teachers had ratified the contract a few days after last month’s school board meeting.

The new deal includes a roughly 2.4% raise with a $900 dollar increase in the base salary each year to $38,500 this coming fall and $39,400 a year later.

Chadron School Board President Tom Menke thinks the contract is fair to both sides and he appreciates the hard work by the negotiators for both sides.

Menke says a few adjustments were made to the contract language, but no major changes.

The new contract adds a step to the extra duty schedule and also adds the position of head girls wrestling coach.

Since girls wrestling wasn’t a separate sport when the current contract was signed 2 years ago, head coach Caleb Haskell has been working under a special contract.

The School Board also rolled over for another 2 years the contract of Supt Ginger Meyer, who’d received a sparkling annual evaluation last month.

The contract gives Meyer the same roughly 2.4% raise as the teachers, bringing her contract to almost $153,000.Â
