Chadron School Board Still Open To Public Via Zoom

The Chadron School Board meets tonight at 5:30 at the district offices on the west side of the high school.

It’s the first meeting for Ginger Meyer since she took over as superintendent from Dr Caroline Winchester at the first of the month and the first since the end of Gov Pete Ricketts’ waiver allowing public bodies to meet by phone or video conference because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Dr Winchester found that the virtual meetings held on Zoom drew many more members of the public than the traditional sessions and talked about continuing that option for the public, a course Meyer is following.

As for tonight’s agenda, it’s long but potential short at the same time. The board will consider changes to over a dozen policies, but most are housekeeping changes to update or expand language

There are also required annual public hearings on several policies that seldom draw any testimony including parental involvement, use of the internet, and anti-bullying.
