CHADRON – A citizen report to Chadron police Saturday led to the arrest of a local man for 3rd offense drunk driving.
40-year old Ty Huss is also charged with driving under suspension and refusing a chemical test with pending counts of no insurance, no registration, fictitious plates, and refusal to take a preliminary breath test.
Police Sgt Jarvis Wallage says a citizen contacted police about an apparently drunk motorcyclist who had been swerving across the lanes on Highway 20 east of Chadron.
Officers spotted the biker on 3rd Street – the highway’s designation in town – just east of downtown after it had hit and damaged an unoccupied parked vehicle.
After Huss stopped, Sgt Wallage conducted a DUI investigation before arresting Huss, discovering he had an extensive criminal and driving history including prior felony drunk driving counts. Huss was lodged into the Dawes County Jail on $25,000 bond.
Wallage would like to extend an appreciation and thanks to the citizen who made the initial report as well as to thank the public in general for reporting drunk drivers to help keep other motorists on the road safe.
