(AP) – Rapid City Mayor Steve Allender’s call for an ordinance to shutdown bars, restaurants, clubs, theaters, gyms and any other recreation or entertainment facilities during the coronavirus pandemic received first-round approval from the city council in a special meeting Sunday night. The ordinance that received 7-2 support allows some services to continue operation through remote means like pickup and delivery orders, while others will be required to completely shutdown. The ordinance still needs a second reading before it can take effect, and a hearing on the second reading has been scheduled for Friday. If approved. the new rules would last until April 8 at which time the council can decide to extend it, if needed.
