A Celebration of Life for 86-year old Clark “Dupe” McCue are Sat, Dec 11, at 10:30 at the Martin American Legion Hall in Martin, SD.

Clark Lee McCue was born eight miles northwest of Martin, SD, on Sept. 12, 1935, to Cecil and Frances (Sigman) McCue. He died on Nov. 29, 2021, in Martin at the age of 86.

Clark lived his entire life in Martin and was known to most as Dupe, a nickname he got from his big brother when he was a young boy his big brothers. It stuck with him for life, but unknown to most people he despised the name.

Clark attended school in Martin where he played football, basketball and ran track for the Bennett County Warriors, he also played American Legion baseball. 

He married Iris Williams in 1953 and they had three children: Steve, Julianne, and Karla. During his 20’s and 30’s, he drove school bus and officiated high school sports. In 1976, he married Shirley Goedde and gained four stepchildren: Mary, Doug, Sherrill, and Bill. 

Farming and ranching became his way of life. He farmed with his brother Wayne under the McCue Bros name and ranched with the McQ brand. 

Clark loved the land and he especially enjoyed harvest time. He always planted a few rows of sweet corn alongside the field corn, inviting anyone who wanted out to the farm to pick some fresh sweet corn. You could find Clark at the sale barn café or the auto parts store, visiting with the boys and eating popcorn.

He leaves behind his wife Shirley of 45 years, daughters Julianne (Doug) Greenough of Lusk, WY,  Karla (Russell) Brown of Bismarck, ND, stepchildren Doug Goedde of Omaha, NE , Mary (Steven) Schroeder of Lincoln, NE, Bill Goedde of Martin, SD,

Clark is survived by 8 grandchildren Kellie Kramer, Matt Kramer of Bismarck, ND, Beau Greenough of Lusk,  WY, Casey Byrne of Phoenix, AZ, Kyla Pomrenke of Wasilla, AK, Shannon Goedde of Omaha, NE, Nicole Schroeder of Columbus, NE, and Andrew Schroeder of Lincoln, NE,

He also leaves ten great-grandchildren: Jaelynn, Marley, Caiden, Kim, Claire, Blake, Jon, Zoe, Mason, Thia, Riley and Robin as well as nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law Jackie McCue and Pat McCue.

Clark was preceded in death by his son Steve, stepdaughter Sherrill, brothers Harold, Wayne, and Clyde, and sister Bonnie.

Honorary pallbearers are all family and friends.
