Parts Assistant Job Description
Summary:
Eagle Chevrolet Buick in Chadron is currently accepting applications for a Parts Assistant to join our successful automotive service team. The parts assistant must have multiple technical skill sets, as they deal with multiple computer systems regularly.
Full Time Position:
Working hours are:
8 am to 5:30 pm – 1 Hour Lunch – Monday through Friday.
8 am to 12 pm – Noon – every other Saturday
Job Description
Assist all customers (retail and shop) in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner. Inform customers of companion part requirements and specials. Ensure that the customer is exposed to the full product line of parts available. Answers phone calls, providing price quotes and other information.
Essential Functions

Work with service technicians and advisors to coordinate parts for vehicle repair and service;

Maintain clean and professional appearance of counter, work area, and stockroom;

Inventory, maintain accurate records of received goods;

Maintain parts in appropriate storage areas;

Receive and process payments;

Read and understand the parts catalog when looking up and speaking to specific parts;

Pull/fill orders from stock and maintain weekly bin checks to ensure accuracy of stock;

Make sure all internal requests for parts are billed on service repair order;

Provide high level service to both internal and external customers;

Answer phone calls, provide price quotes and other information to customers;

Converse effectively/efficiently regarding customer parts status;

Receive payment from retail customers or obtains credit authorization;

Review body shop estimates to verify the parts ordered are correct and all pricing is in line with the estimate;

Notify parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention;

Locate out-of-stock parts from outside source and submit an emergency order, if necessary.
Competencies:
- Effective Written and Verbal Communication skills
- Aptitude and knowledge of how automobiles work
- Ability to read/interpret safety, blueprints and maintenance documents.
- Works with minimum supervision
- Ability to calculate figures/amounts including; discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, %, area, circumference, and volume.
- Safe driving record
- Attention to detail
- Fast learner, Works well under pressure
- Team player with People skills
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervision requirements.
Work Environment:
This position will require the employee to work both inside and outside of the facility. Inside the facility the employee will be exposed to loud sound involving the operation of vehicle repair equipment and the possible exposure to fumes from chemicals and vehicle exhausts. While outside of the facility, the employee will be exposed to the elements.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, kneel, bend, walk, drive, talk, write, type and hear. This position requires the ability to lift supplies and vehicle parts up to 50 pounds
Travel:
Some local travel to deliver parts as needed.
Required Education and Experience:
- A High School Diploma
- Good driving record
- Insurable to drive
- Mechanical background a plus

Compensation:
$30,000 – $40,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications
