Funeral services for 86-year old Claude “Win” Saults are Mon, Jan 17, 2022, at 10:30 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Gordon, NE.
Burial will be in the Gordon Cemetery.
Visitation is Sun, Jan 16, from 4 to 6 pm at Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home in Gordon.

Claude Winfield (Win) Saults was born October 27, 1935, in Gordon, Nebraska, the middle child to Claude H. Saults and Sylvia (Moss) Saults. He passed away peacefully January 8, 2022, at Pioneer Manor in Hay Springs, Nebraska.
Win grew up in Gordon, where he attended K-12 graduating from Gordon High School in 1953. He always loved sports and while in high school played football, basketball, and track. He was always proud of the fact that their basketball team went to the State Tournament in 1953.
Also, to say he was a “Husker” fan, would be a major understatement. He loved his Huskers and was always singing the fight song “There is no place like Nebraska”.
Growing up, some of Win’s favorite memories were going to the Saults Ranch as a kid and spending time with his aunt and uncle. This love carried on into adulthood when he would take his own kids to the ranch and spend time as well.
Win always knew he would be a pharmacist and follow the family footsteps. After high school graduation, he attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln and received his degree in Pharmacy in 1959. After college Win returned to Gordon to help his father at the store and later, he took over the family business of Saults and Son Drugstore.
While attending college he met Joan Hunzecker and the two were married on June 21, 1959. Three children were born to this union, Scott Winfiled, David Joe, and Melanie Sue. Win and Jo later divorced and ge lived with his Aunt Grace Taylor above the drugstore.
In years to follow Win met the love of his life, Dianne Kamerzell, and the two were married on April 17, 1975. That gave Win his fourth child, Justin (Dianne’s son), whom he later adopted and raised.
Win and Dianne continued to work side by side running the drugstore until the 90s when tough times forced them to close. Although the doors were shut, the memories and the stories from the Saults and Son Drugstore will continue forever.
In January of 2020, in failing health, Win was moved from his home to Pioneer Manor in Hay Springs and remained there until the time of his death.
Survivors include his children, Scott (Jill) Saults of Big Springs, Nebraska, Dave (Trudy) Saults of Harrison, Nebraska, Melanie (Forrest) Peetz of O’Neill, Nebraska, and Justin (Steph) Saults of Malvern, Ohio. Grandchildren Jacie (Kelly) Schremmp, Amber (Ben) Mathine, Brody (Ashley) Saults, Baden (Becky) Baseggio, Carli (Kolby) Lenhart, Bailey Saults (Blake Peterson), Ralph Saults, Josee Saults, Jate Saults, Emma Saults, Robbe Peetz, Jake (Maggie) Peetz, and Mary (Jamie) Tomjack. Along with 19 Great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and very special friends Norma Burnam and Gary Ruse.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Dianne Saults, brother Jerry Saults, sister Gloria Merrill, brother-in-law Bill Merrill, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Jim and Florene Kamerzell, grandson Jesse Peetz, and long-time helper at the store Noah Star.
