Funeral services for 62-year old Belva Matilda Janis are Sat, Dec 5, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Edna Plenty Arrows residence in Yellow Bear Canyon – Allen, SD, with traditional Lakota services by Steve DuBray
Burial services will be at the Salway Cemetery in Allen.
A one-night wake service starts Friday, Dec 4, 2020 at 3:00 AM, also at the Edna Plenty Arrows residence.
Belva Matilda Janis was born on July 13, 1958, in Pine Ridge, SD to Glen Thomas Janis Sr and Christina Walks Under the Ground. Belva made her journey to the Spirit World on November 27, 2020, at the Freeman Health System in Joplin, MO.
Belva is survived by her children, Daniel Poor Thunder and Wilson Baker both of Miami, OK; siblings, Michelle Janis of Denver, CO and Patti Plenty Arrows of Allen, SD; and significant other, Larry Tasso of Miami, OK.
Belva was preceded in death by her father, Glen Janis, Sr.; mother, Christina Fast; siblings, Rochelle Janis-Coats, Glen Janis, Jr., Kathy Janis, and Maxine Janis; and son, Merle Left Hand Bull, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Waylon Gaddie, Leon Kills Small, Carl Janis, Henry Red Cloud, Scott Durmace, Shane Bad Wound, Chico DuBray, Jr., and Cornell Ruff, Jr.
