Memorial Services for 82-year old Bill Meng of Gordon, NE, are Thurs May 20, 2021, at 10.30 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Gordon.

 Inurnment in the Hemingford Cemetery in Hemingford, NE.

William Albert Meng was born on September 12th, 1938, and went to join his wife Donna with the Lord on Thursday May 13th, 2021 at his home in Gordon. 

Bill was the third of 4 children born to Albert G. Meng and Hellen I. Meng. He attended Country School at Round Top School until 8th grade, then went to Chadron Preparatory High School in Chadron, NE. 

After graduating from Chadron Prep, Bill attended South Dakota School of Mines for 2 years where he studied engineering and participated in football and wrestling.

Bill met Donna Wyland at the ZCBJ dance hall west of Hemingford and they wed in Gering, NE, on August 24, 1961. To this union were born 3 boys: William John Meng, (Susana) of Gibbon, NE; George Meng (Lorri), of Gordon; and Thomas Meng (Dolly) of Shelton, NE.

Bill owned a sawmill with Bob Richardson until he went into the service in 1961. In the army. he completed courses in math and electronics which enabled him to be a Radio Electrician. 

He was discharged from the Army in 1964 and went to work for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, which later became U-S West Communications.

The family moved to Gordon in 1966 and Bill eventually went to work for and eventually retired from Great Plains Communication.

Bill is survived by his sons, daughters-in-law, 13 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. 

He is also survived by his sisters Mary Reed of Dale Valley, TX and Gerry Pettipiece (Wes) of Chadron NE; his sisters-in-law Deborah (Jerry) Mundt of Berea, NE, and Norma (Jerome) Kosmicki of Grand Island, NE; and brother-in-law George Wickham.

He was preceded in death by his wife Donna Kay Meng, his parents Albert and Helen (Harrison) Meng, and his sister Sally Cullers.      

He was loved and will be missed by his several generations of nieces & nephews as well.
