The family moved to Chadron in 1929 where Daisy attended country schools in the Deadhorse and Flagbutte area until 7th grade, she then attended Chadron High School where she graduated in 1940.

An avid card player, Daisy ate weekday lunch for many, many years at the Senior Center followed by rousing games of cards or bingo. For a few years she also met every Wednesday morning at Walmart for cards with the Wednesday card group. With a pack of cards in her purse, she was always ready for an impromptu card game.
Daisy was employed by Chadron State College for 21 years and enjoyed a sponsored overseas field trip (the college students called her “Grandma”) to England, France, Wales and Scotland. Going to the top of the Eiffel Tower was a great experience.
On a trip to Washington D.C. she saw the Vietnam Wall and visited the “Eternal Flame” of President Kennedy. On her visit to New York, she saw the Statue of Liberty and took a side trip to Ottawa and Montreal, Canada, as well.
Her husband William died May 13, 1977. He had been employed as a heavy equipment operator at Fort Robinson during the terrible 1949 blizzard and was later employed by the Nebraska Department of Roads in Chadron.
