No memorial services are planned at this time for 73-year old Kathy Rapp of Chadron, NE, due to the coronavirus-related restrictions on public gatherings.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held in Chadron at a later date.
Kathy Rapp was born April 22, 1946, in Portland OR, to Charles and Ethel Copeland and passed away peacefully April 1, 2020 at Chadron Community Hospital.
After the death of Charles, Ethel and the children moved to her family’s farm near Valentine, NE, where they lived with her brother, Richard Howe.
Kathy graduated from Valentine High School in 1964, then worked as a telephone operator in Chadron for a few years before moving to Denver to attend cosmetology school and work as a beautician.
She returned to Chadron in 1971 after being diagnosed with MS. In Chadron, she met Roland Rapp. They were married in 1972 and she gave birth to their son Troy in 1975. She and Roland later divorced.
Kathy attended Chadron State College in the early 2000s and graduated in 2008 with a bachelor of arts degree in social work.
Kathy Rapp is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Troy Rapp and Theresa Murphy, brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Sharon Copeland, nieces Karen Ellsworth and Robyn Sargent, and nephews Ken Copeland, Robert Kime, and Scott Copeland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Barbara Snook, brothers-in-law Lyle Kime and Charles Snook, and her uncle Richard Howe.
