Opal was born to Perry and Lola (Hatfield) Bell on December 5, 1932 in the family’s home in rural Sioux County and passed away peacefully at her home on March 19, 2020. Opal graduated high school and then attended Chadron State College for two years earning her teaching certificate. In 1956, Opal met and married Jerry Olivas, to this union two children were born, Lola and John. Opal spent 11 years of her life teaching before retiring in 1972, to become a full-time rancher. Opal is preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Lola, her daughter Lola, and husband Jerry. Opal is survived by her son, John and wife Kathy Martin of rural Sioux County, and sister Letha Oldaker. Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements for Opal Olivas.
