Renee M. Little, better and famously known as “Cookie,” was born to Madeline Yellow Boy Martin and Mike Little on November 11, 1963 in Pine Ridge, SD. Cookie made her journey to the Spirit World on April 20, 2020 at Monument Health in Rapid City, SD

She was the mother to her only child Mercedes Swan Goodman. Cookie was the oldest sister to Stacey “Guy” Yellow Boy, Fred “Junebug” Martin Jr., Charlie Jo Little and Willis Lakota. Her hunka sister is Courtney Two Lance.

Cookie attended all her school years at Pine Ridge School and graduated from Pine Ridge High School in 1982. She was a strong and loyal Thorpe. She obtained her CDA while working at the OST Head Start Program.

Growing up, Cookie was a well-known fancy shawl dancer. She was a fierce competitor, who is remembered by her sky blue, red, orange, and yellow outfit.

Cookie’s laughter was contagious, and the many stories shared end with laughter and a great memory of her. Wa’ iyuskinyan u’n wi’n – Joyful woman. Her happiness made everyone laugh and smile. Many friends shared memories of how Cookie welcomed you into her home, fed you, visited with you, took care of you, and helped in any way she could.

She drove a huge two-tone green truck and played cassette tapes – her friends recalled a song that reminded them of her and their adventure. There are many places around Pine Ridge that Cookie brought the laughter and a good time. She was a wonderful friend who would call just to check on you; her words and laughter was the very thing that a person needed to hear – she really cared for her friends. Cookie had so many friends that shared their memories of their time with her.

It’s time for Cookie to rest in paradise until we meet again. We will always remember her laughter; Cookie always left you with a smile.

Cookie is survived by her father, Mike Little; daughter, Mercedes Swan Goodman; and brothers, Charlie Jo Little and Willis Lakota.

Cookie was preceded in death by her mother, Madeline Yellow Boy-Martin; and brothers, Stacy “Guy” Yellow Boy and Fred “Junebug” Martin, Jr.
