Burial is at Little Grass Creek Cemetery in Oglala

A one-night wake service starts Thurs, Feb 4, 2021 at 2:00, also at St. John’s Episcopal Church near Oglala. Cornell Conroy was a veteran of the U-S Army.

Cornell Lyle Conroy was born on July 24, 1947 in Hisle, SD to Eli Conroy, Sr. and Stella (Randall) Brown Eyes.  Cornell made his journey to the Spirit World on January 29, 2021 at the Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Cornell is survived by his wife, Evelyn “Pogo” Patton of Oglala, SD; children, Sage Conroy of Oglala, SD, Estelle (Aaron Walgren) Conroy of Larkspur, CO, Cornel “Dutch” Conroy of Wanblee, SD, Tina Conroy and Autumn (Conroy) Two Bulls both of Rapid City, SD, Misty Conroy of Fargo, ND, and Gerard “Jack” Conroy of Fort Thompson, SD; brothers, Arlo Conroy and Corbin Conroy both of Porcupine, SD, Lenart Brown Eyes of Rapid City, SD, Gerard Brown Eyes of Martin, SD, Curtis Conroy and Taylor Conroy both of Allen, SD; hunka brother, Bill Bass of Wolf Creek Community; sister, Ursula Brown Eyes of Martin, SD; grandchildren, Marcus Lamont, Stormy Lamont, Breanna Lamont, Ohiniyan Conroy-Giago, Wakinyan R. Conroy, Luta Keegan, Tate Conroy, Jarred Weitzel, Alanna Brewer, Dakota “Nape Luta Win” Conroy, Skuya Conroy, Jazzmine Conroy, Chevelle Conroy, Javin Conroy, and Javaya Conroy; and 6 great grandchildren.  

Cornell was preceded in death by his father, Eli Conroy, Sr.; mother, Stella (Randall) Brown Eyes; brothers, Eli “Happy” Conroy, Jr., Plenard “Tuffy” Conroy, and Cecil “Redman” Weston, Jr.; sisters, Alice Faye Conroy and Glenda Conroy; and great grandson, Cornell Conroy III.

Pallbearers will be Bill Bass, Eugene “Geno” Winters, Paul Forney, Bill Ten Fingers, Wendell Yellow Bull, Sr., Wakinyan Conroy, Marcus Lamont, Wesley New Holy, Sr., and Jackson Ten Fingers. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Conroy Families, Randall Families, Shota Tiospaye, New Holy Family, Moves Camp Family, Winters Family, Woptura Tiospaye, US/Canada Sundancers, Re-Member Organization, All Veteran Organizations, and All Friends & Relatives.  

Arrangements entrusted with Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD
