COVID-19 Active Cases Up, Hospitalized Cases Down For Second Straight Day In Neb

     For the second straight day on Wednesday, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Nebraska rose while the number of hospitalized cases dropped.

       Health and Human Services reported 1,242 new cases along with only 788 recoveries and 10 deaths.

That pushed the number of active cases up to 64,740 while hospitalizations dropped by 31 to 646, the fewest since Nov 2nd.

     The availability of hospital beds and ICU beds are both at 28% while available ventilators remain at 72% for the third straight day.. 

       Nebraska has had 152,103 total cases along with 1,448 deaths and 85,915 recoveries since the beginning of the pandemic. 

      Panhandle Unified Command reported 81 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday to bring the total since the start of the pandemic to 7,117

       With just 37 recoveries and no deaths, the number of active cases rose to 1,454 including 41 who are hospitalized – 5 fewer than on Tuesday. The region has had 97 COVID-19 deaths and 5,566 recoveries.. 

       Dawes County reported 3 new cases and 3 recoveries with no deaths, leaving 63 active cases, 531 total cases, 451 recoveries, and 17 deaths.

       Chadron State College had one of its 3 active cases recover, leaving 1 student and 1 staffer. The school has had 144 total cases, 118 students and 26 staff. 

     Chadron Public Schools remains at 1 active case at the high school with 34 total cases district wide and 2 quarantines.
