The Hot Springs School District is switching to remote learning-only for at least the rest of this week because of a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases in the district.
Hot Springs uses a 4-day school week with no classes on Fridays.
The district said In a Facebook post Tuesday morning that the tentative plan is to return to Tier 2 status on Monday, but that the decision won’t be made until all available information is reviewed.
The Facebook posting says closing the schools and moving to Tier 4 of the district’s coronavirus protocols gives the custodial staff a chance to deep clean all facilities. That process began Tuesday afternoon and could last through Friday..
Teachers will be able go into their rooms to provide the online instruction or they can do it from home.
