COVID-19 Issues Cancel 44th Lakota Nation Invitational

This year’s 44th-annual Lakota Nation Invitational in Rapid City has been canceled because of concerns over the rising number of COVID-19 cases in South Dakota and elsewhere. 

       The Lakota Nation Invitational includes boys and girls basketball, wrestling, Lakota hand games, the Lakota Language Bowl, and a variety of academic sessions.

      The LNI board met Friday for the third time in 2 months and Bryan Brewer, the event’s founder and former Oglala Sioux tribal president, says the decision to cancel was made when over half the teams said they couldn’t make it because of the pandemic
