
Panhandle Unified Command reported another new record for active cases on Friday – leap-frogging past both the 900 and 1,000 case thresholds to come in at 1,014 or 262 more than on Thursday.
The report included 197 new coronavirus cases and just 82 recoveries, bringing total cases to 2,457 with 16 deaths and 1,427 recoveries.
There were 9 new cases and 6 recoveries in Dawes County, pushing its totals to 67 active cases, 276 total cases, 205 recoveries, and 4 deaths.
Chadron State College had 4 more cases and 1 recovery for 6 active cases – all students – and 73 total cases, including 61 students.
None of the Chadron Public Schools’s 23 cases are active and the number of quarantines has dropped to 7
Statewide, the number of active cases of COVID-19 has topped 25,000 at 25,047 – including 584 who are hospitalized. Both increased records set on Thursday with 1,051 more active cases and 56 more in the hospital.
Nebraska registered 1,495 new cases, 435 recoveries, and 9 deaths on Friday, bringing those totals to 69,645 cases, 646 deaths, and 43,952 recoveries since the start of the pandemic.
The percentage of available hospital and ICU beds dropped to 26% and 27% respectively, but availability of respirators ticked up to 76%.
