CSC Scholastic Day Falls Victim To COVID For 2nd Straight Year

For the second straight year, the Chadron State College Scholastic Contest has been cancelled, a victim of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Scholastic Day traditionally brings over a thousand students from dozens of high schools in the tri-state region to recognize academic achievement.

Scholastic Day Committee Co-chair Jamie Hamaker says the difficult to skip the annual event for two straight years was difficult and came after much deliberation, but the panel believes it’s best for the campus

Co-chair Sara Smith says not bringing the high schools students onto campus is a big disappointment for the CSC faculty and staff, who continue to strongly support and help with Scholastic Day to help the college meet its mission to provide educational experiences that enrich the region and beyond

Smith and Hamaker want to bring Scholastic Day back better than ever next year, so the committee welcomes input from the campus community and others on ways to do that as part of the planning process.
