CSC Teacher Education Program Hosting Virtual Reaccreditation Visit

CHADRON – Chadron State College is hosting a virtual accreditation visit for its teacher training program today and tomorrow. Accreditation is approved on a 7-year cycle and CSC has been continually accredited since 1913.

This visit by a 5-member team from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation was to be face-to-face on campus, but those plans were changed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now the team will conduct video conference interviews with CSC students, faculty, and administrators as well as teachers and school administrators around the region.

Each team member will focus on one of 5 standards: program impact, content and knowledge; clinical partnerships and practice; selection and quality of candidates; and quality, continuous improvement, and capacity of teacher education faculty.

Chadron State has a 5-member team of its own headed by interim Dean Dr Margaret Crouse that has spent the past 2 years reviewing and preparing for the reaccreditation process.

Team member Dr Don Kinb says they submitted for the college presenting its strengths and accomplishments in the 5 categories of standards, offering data on numbers and quality drawn from internal and state sources.

The accreditation team members reviewed the report for 6-to-8 weeks, then submitted questions about it to the CSC team in October.

The school’s reply went out in early January, which was followed by a video conference between the CSC team, the leader of the accreditation team, and the Accreditation Council’s accreditation director. A report by the council and its team on the virtual visit is expected to be issued in 30-to-60 days.
