The Mavericks improve to 3-1 overall and in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The 28 points was the lowest for the Lady Eagles since 1974-75, the second year of the program, when they lost to Sterling 39-20 while the 50-point loss was the biggest since a 60-point margin against Regis in 2007-08 “It was good to finally play,” Head Coach Janet Raymer said. “We have a lot of work to do, but we stuck together and played hard.”The Eagles shot 33.3 % in the first period, but never surpassed that mark in the other three quarters. CSC was 27.3 percent from the field in the second quarter, and 12.5 percent and 14.3 percent in the third and final period, respectively.As a team, the Mavericks shot 38 percent (27-71) and hit 12 of their 31 three point attempts for 38.7 percent. Chadron State made 12 of its 56 field goal attempts and were one of 14 (7.1 percent) from behind the arc.Compared to Colorado Mesa, who finished 12-14 (85.7 percent) from the charity stripe, Chadron State only converted three of their seven attempts for 42.9 percent.The Mavericks outrebound CSC 50 to 39 in the victory.Chadron State had 24 turnovers in the loss, which resulted in 30 points for the Mavericks. CSC scored five points off 11 Colorado Mesa turnovers.Kylyn Rigsby led both teams with 18 points. Three other players scored in double-digits for the Mavericks. Kelsey Siemons had 17 points, while Daniella Turner and Natalie Bartle scored 16 and 11, respectively.Taryn Foxen led Chadron State with 16 points. Jori Peters for CSC and Turner for the Mavericks had a game high nine rebounds.Chadron State’s next contest is Friday, December 18, as they travel to UCCS. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
