Davyd Paul DuBray-Douville was born on November 14th, 2000 at the University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada to his parents Georgette DuBray and Shane Bear Heels. Davyd departed on May 20, 2021 at home in Parmelee, SD.

Davyd was the 3rd son of Georgette DuBray – the younger brother of Alyssa, Jaycob and Stetson, older brother of Sevin; and step-son of the late Mark Bordeaux Sr.

His hunka siblings, whom he helped take care of, are Grace, Marvin, Altine and Melvin DuBray and he grew up with his auntie, Julyana.

Davyd received his Lakota name “Tatanka Ob Mani” from his uncle Damon Leader Charge at Pass Creek Wacipi in Allen, SD.

Davyd is known for his bright smile, gentleness, helpfulness and being daring and crazier than most. His teasing came quick and he was smart as a whip. He looked up to his uncles. He was very respectful to his elders and always helpful.

Davyd grew up being a church boy. It didn’t matter who he stayed with, church was where he could be found. When he attended many prayer meetings with his grandmothers Arlene, Adell, Darlene and Altine, he literally got himself baptized at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church and selected his own God-parents; Harry DuBray, Jr., Sunni Rose Wilkinson and his Great Grandpa Melvin Young during another baptismal.

He went to school in various places – He Dog School, Todd County Middle School, White River School, Crazy Horse School and more. Davyd was well-known and traveled far in his lifetime.

This past year helped coach boy’s football in Parmelee. He had a lot of fun doing activities like this. He liked football, basketball and hangin’ with the boys. He was quick to joke, laugh and smile. He liked movies, music and video games, especially cruising.

Davyd was an all-around leader and the foreman of the crew. He was the boss to his nephews and nieces. He’d always say (laughing) “Am I right or am I wrong?” and “I’m not a mind reader, but you just have to know”.  He will be missed so much.

Remember, you all have a piece of Davyd in your memories, pictures, or maybe a story or an experience; share them with each other.

Davyd is survived by his parents, brothers, nephew & nieces, and all of his grandmas and grandpas.

Davyd was preceded in death by all his grandparents, Harry DuBray Sr. & Adell Douville, Rachael DuBray, Arlene Bear Heels and Steve Kary; step-father, Mark Bordeaux Sr; great-grandparents, Evelyn & Marvin Douville, Altine and Seth DuBray, Sr.; and sister, Jasann DuBray.
