Funeral services for 49-year old Donovan Running Hawk are Sat, Jan 16, 2021 at noon at the Tracie Gallego residence, 108 BIA 32 near Pine Ridge, SD, with the Rev. Rhoda Mesteth officiating and traditional Lakota services by Floyd Running Hawk
Cremation to follow services.
Viewing precedes and follows the funeral from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM, also at the Tracie Gallego residence
Donovan J. Running Hawk was born on November 28, 1971 in Pine Ridge, SD to Dennis Running Hawk and Lenora (Bear Robe) Running Hawk. Donovan made his journey to the Spirit World on January 10, 2021 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Donovan is survived by his spouse, Emma Gallego; stepdaughter, Tracie Gallego; stepsons, Louis B. and Jay P. Gallego; stepdaughter, Annie Gallego; siblings, Maxine Running Hawk-Janis, Conrad Running Hawk, Donald Running Hawk, Floyd “Sonny Boy” Running Hawk, and Veatrice Running Hawk; grandchildren, Jesse Gallego, Jerred Gallego, Jasmine Comes Killing, Louis J. Gallego, Chole Fire Thunder, Maria Gallego, Justin B. Gallego, Alexander Fire Thunder, and many more grandchildren.
Donovan was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Lenora Running Hawk; sister, Karen Running Hawk-Walking; brother, Darrell Running Hawk; and nephew, Nicholas Janis.
Pallbearers will be Brent Brewer, Verlyn Garnier, Bob Palmier, Carter Dixon, Will Tymes, Kevin Stouffer, Terry Two Bulls, Duane (Ahta) Morgan, Louis “Rattler” Tyon, Lance Leftwich, “Hot Shot” Carlow, and Louis “Bud” Gallego.
