 Funeral services for 84-year old Dora Maggie Brown are Sat, Nov 21, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the T&T Center in Wanblee, SD, with Pastor Chris Grillo officiating and traditional Lakota services by Richard Moves Camp and Russell Eagle Bear. Mato Gleska is the drum group.

Dora Maggie Brown was born on September 12, 1936 in Wanblee, SD to Rueben & Jennie (Richards) Brown.  Dora made her journey to the Spirit World on November 11, 2020 at her home in Wanblee, SD.

Dora was a single mother and provided for her children.  She worked as a dispatcher, janitor, teachers aide, a cook, and also for the housing board.  

Dora picked potatoes with her aunt, Rachal Richards.  Dora enjoyed quilting star quilts, beading, cutting wood, butchering, making wasna, picking choke cherries, and cooking.  She loved to attend rodeos, parades, pow-wows, and all kinds of gatherings. 

Dora always encouraged her children.  Dora was always proud to say she helped Vandermay Quilting and got their business off the ground.

Dora is survived by her children, Stanley (Sandra) Young of Wanblee, SD, William Lamont of Wanblee, SD, and Linda (Henry) B. Yellow Elk of Wanblee, SD; hunka family, Renee Thin Elk, One Horn Family, Clarence Yellow Elk, and Prairie Rose DuBray; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dora was preceded in death by her parents, Rueben & Jennie Brown; son, Edward Bartlett; daughters, Ruth Brown-Wright and Valarie Lamont-Wooden Knife; grandson, Tyler Trask-Randall; paternal grandparents, David Brown & Alice Goes In Center, Red Dog Track, Breast, Horse on the Ground, Goes In Center, Beads, and Red Rock; and maternal grandparents, Alfred Richards & Nellie Randall, Randall, Reynolds, and Afraid of Bear.

Pallbearers will be Bailey One Horn, Clarence Yellow Hawk, Elyle Poor Bear, Rueben Randall, Reno Richards, Algin Young, Stan Young, Jr., and Layne Randall.
