Draft WNCC Budget $28.9-M In General Spending

SCOTTSBLUFF – The Western Nebraska Community College administration has presented the school’s board of governors with a draft budget for next year that includes just over $28.9 million dollars in general expenditures.

Vice President of Administrative Services Lynne Koski told the board that although final revenue estimates won’t be known until property valuations are set, the administration is basing the budget on the board’s strategic initiatives and goals.

Koski said one area getting a close look is personnel, especially whether to fill vacancies or leave them open and shift that money to meet greater needs.

He said two alternative job reconfiguring proposals have been drafted, each with an estimate salary and benefit savings of just over a million dollars resulting from changes as eliminating positions or turning full-time positions into multiple part-time posts.

WNCC reopened all 3 campuses to the public on Monday with hours of 8-5 M-T and 8-4 on Friday, but with some access still limited. Visitors to the main Scottsbluff campus, for instance, must use the Welcome Center main entrance with all other doors remaining locked.

The return of employees is being phased in, leading up to full staffing on July 13. As a result, visitors are strongly encouraged to schedule a appointments in advance whenever possible.
