Public Transit Awareness Week ends Saturday, but Chadron City Transit doesn’t operate its bus on the weekend so the final local events are Friday.
     Friday is Driver Appreciation Day with all the drivers being honored for their smiles and service, and it’s also Funny Hat Day with city public transportation supervisor Julie Lawrence encouraging all passengers to wear their funniest or most-creative hat.
She’d also like them to take pictures or selfies of them riding the bus in their hats, then text the pictures to 308-432-0520 for posting on the Chadron City Transit website or the new Facebook page www.facebook.com/cityofchadron
The Stuff The Bus Canned Food Drive also ends today and Lawrence says she’s been thrilled with the response so far since all the canned goods collected are going to local food pantries.
The old Chadron Transit Bus, formerly known as the Handi-Bus, is is in the parking lot along 3rd St/Hwy 20 across the street from Safeway between FNBO and Nebraska Bank.
